This newsletter is meant to get the word out about the Jewish Comics Library of Seattle (JCLS) whose mission is to collect the works of Jewish comics artists and works by non Jewish comics artists on Jewish themes. Our goal is to create a cultural focal point for the Jewish community and its allies.

Jewish issues have been elegantly portrayed as sequential art since the establishment of the comics industry. Libraries are like trees of knowledge. They absorb cultural nutrition through their roots, send it to the flowering branches that, with the help of the leaves (that’s us) they absorb energy that fuels the growth of the fruit that we call culture.

Promoting new work is also a historical function of libraries. We hope to inspire and encourage new work. We are agents of Jewish American culture via the curation of this new addition to Jewish literary output.
